The Year of the Snake(s)

As 2025 comes to a close, I can’t help but to feel relief that this year has been completed yet I'm excited and hopeful for a new year to begin. According to the Chinese Zodiak, the year of the snake(s) is a year of shedding what no longer serves us, what isn’t meant to be with us moving forward. It’s a year of painful truths, eye opening revelations, shocking twists of events and life changes. What can seem quite jarring in the moment is actually for our highest good moving forward - its aligning. In numerology, 2025 was a 9 universal year - the year of completing a 9 year cycle - we were meant to reflect, complete, heal, expose and release during this time.
Personally, a lot has changed for me this past year. I've faced many trials and tribulations. I've identified many snakes, and i’ll admit i’ve lost my way a couple of times over the course of this past year - there seems to be a handful of people who don’t want me to be in my element for reasons unknown to myself but one thing will always remain - my love of food - that for me will always be in alignment and will always be my unconditional love.
My hopes for 2026 is to tell the raw true story of my 9 year cycle - it's full of twists and turns, wins and loses - I’m not sure where to begin my story but one thing I can promise.. truth is, more often than not, stranger than fiction.
I'm anticipating some drama over the next few months as what was kept in the dark from us comes to the light, but I promise to continue telling my experiences through edible art, whimsical imagery, honest lyrics and creative ideas because after all is said and done, the show must go on.
I'd like to thank everyone who has continued to support myself and The Kanaka Kitchen as I navigate unfamiliar waters - I’m excited to refocus on what truly matters to me and continue to grow an inclusive community that supports creative thinking, uniqueness, rebellion, original ideas, raw honesty and passionate art. And of course, a special <3 to my muse, much love always.
Much Love Everyone and Happy New Year.
P.s - Here is a recipe to sweeten the start to 2026!
